创建于1991年6月，是一所反映地方近现代史的博物馆。目前馆舍面积2600平方米，馆藏文物、史料、图片共3500多件（册），陈列有“镇江革命斗争史”展览。该馆承担着镇江地区范围内的近、现代文物、史料的调查、征集和研究任务，举办陈列反映旧民主主义革命、新民主主义革命以及社会主义革命和建设三个时期镇江的地方历史，展示我国民主革命、社会主义革命和建设的丰富经验及历史教训，阐明中国共产党领导中国革命取得胜利的伟大意义，向党员、干部和人民群众以及青少年进行革命传统教育、社会主义教育和“两史一情”教育。

　　2001年，该馆专题展厅设立了“茅以升生平事迹陈列馆”。

Zhenjiang Museum

　　 　　Zhenjiang Museum created in 1958, original site was Zhenjiang British Consulate, is a local historical multiple-art museum, which was approved as the National Major Preservation Unit of Cultural Relics by the State Council in 1996.
 　　In order to improve the display condition and bring the window of famous city or patriotism education in full play, in 2002, Zhenjiang Government decided to have Zhenjiang Museum extended, a new exhibition hall was built at south of original site and old halls were improved with basic facilities and surrounding landscape. When construction and improvement of the new exhibition hall have been completed in end of 2004, whole museum now covers area with 20000m2 and the hall’s 10600m2. After extending, a garden style museum seldom seen in China has shown to the people.
 　　Zhenjiang Museum has accomplished modern management with advanced systems of guard alarm against theft, fire alarm and center air condition, so that these can improve protection and exhibition condition of culture relics, as well as guarantee of safety. It will basically show 6 exhibitions which are 《The bronze wares of Wu culture exhibition 》, 《The ceramics of past dynasties cream exhibition 》, 《The ancient gold and silver wares cream exhibition》, 《The ancient art crafts cream exhibition》, 《The paintings of Ming and Qing Dynasties cream exhibition 》, 《The paintings and calligraphies of ‘Jingjiang Painting Group’ cream exhibition》, which not only show the cream of its culture relics, but also reveal a long history of 3000 ages of zhenjiang and generous culture details.
  　　Every work in zhenjiang museum has been achieved great successes. It caused sensation whether 《Zhenjiang culture cream exhibition》exhibited in Baijing or 《The treasure of Ancient Yangzi River exhibition》in Japan.《The archaeology research with remote sensing used in platform ruins and mound tomb of Shang and Zhou Dynasties in the area of Zhenjiang》was conferred third class prize of scientific and technological improvement by the State Bureau of Culture Relics.
　　《Wu`s bronze wares comprehensive research》was conferred second prize of scientific and technological in improvement  and first prize by the Culture Department of Jiangsu Province. State Bureau of Culture Relics has praised the city archaeological studies for many times. Zhenjiang Museum has won honor for zhenjiang a famous city of history and culture that had been taking part in Sanxia archaeological studies from 2001 to 2003.
